What am I doin in this business? I am a grandma for gooodness sakes. I am trying so hard to make it. but everytime I think I am getting ahead or eveneven, I get knocked backward. I do not know how to do anything else. And the truth is I don't want to. Every month I think this will be the month I get ahead. It doesn't make an sense. The loads are paying good but most of the money is going for fuel. I drive the truck about 63mph and watch every dime, yeah go right out the window. My daughter graduates from college this month on the 20th. She will be a heart speacialist. I will be glad simply because I won;t be paying the college bills anymore. I just keep thinking one more month and I will catch up. This month it was tution, Insurance and tags that kept me behind that is over 8000.00 not counting fuel. My phone bill is always behind and nothing ever gets paid on time. I hope this means I will b late for my own funeral as I don't have time to go anywhere I have to much to do. If any one has a better plan please let me know I need one. I am just hanging on and not letting go.
These are the days of a country girl can survive. When my girls were growing up I taught them to be fugal in their spending. I also taught them how to survive on almost nothing. They can skin out an snimal , gut and quarter and cook it. They can wash clothes in the creek and they can make dinner that melts in your mouth without much but some flour and dry beans and meat grease. They are thanking me now because even though times aren't to the point of that they still realize that if they lose all their possessions they will still be able to care for the kids and their husbands very well. I have always been a big believer in that if its not broke don't fix it. i have had to get real creative in running this company to driving 60 mph and if you don't wash your truck noone wants to inspect it. I fix beans and rice and bring it on the truck with me and keep a cooler for drinks that I get at the grocery store. I keep can meat and can vegtables to put in the micro wave . I use peroxide to wipe things off with it is the very best disinfectant that their is . That is what Dr. offices use. You know the Dr office doesn't smell like bleach. I only say that because out here on the road there are a lot of germs and most drivers don't want to get sick especially on the road. These are just a few things to make life easier for us to make due on the road and in these hard times of the world gone crazy. It seems to me it is all about money and taxes and maybe I am the only one who feels that way but every which way I turn these days it is more money than I can make , 2200-00 for a tag, 550.00 for 2290, 3000.00for the Insurance, 840.00for health Insurance 1200.00 for house, 1370.00for truck , 1200.00 for trailer ,5000.00for some tires for the truck and I can't even afford a wiper blade for my pick-up. But o well I guess I am just sounding off. Thanks for reading and GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THE DRIVERS OUT HERE.
He and I live in our own world. We work every day to give our children and grandchildren a good life. We are honest to a fault and generous too. Now we are older and our kids all have kids. we have paid the last bit of tution for our own children. It has been a long hard road to get here today. We had to run, walk , and crawl. We , he and I , Thank the good lord above for all that he has bestowed upon us. The blessings we have recieved were and are much more than we deserve. We grew up in a little town in Fl called Immokalee, my home. It is a migrant town and that is what we did. We picked and packed and worked in the fields and Bo used to bet men that his sister and me could load a trailer load of watermelons before they could for 100$ and we would win hands down. We worked from daylight to dark. Then we would party all night. When the kids got older and had to go to school we moved to Alabama to live a "normal"life. Normal turned out to be working 6 days a week and being dead tired and never, I mean never having enough money for the things my family needed. In 1994 we tried to go back to Pinhooking after my momma passed but it just wasn't the same so in 1994 we both got a CDL and began driving. It was wild back then , we never thought about slowing that truck down and we haven't slowed down yet. We put our girls through college but, of course there is always a catch. Our Son didn't get the drift that you are suppose to do something with your life. I look at it that I wouldn't have Sam And Kendra(still Fighting) if not for him. Daddy still looks at him as sorry. So we are still trucking, high fuel and higher taxes and somehow we are still going. Well that is a little of our colorful life I have more stories of fun and goodtimes but have to go.

FUEL

FUEL: It is at a record high. I can't rember when diesl has ever been higher than gas. Correct me if I'm wrong but , the last time gas got high there was a shortage of it. Didn't we have to alternate days when we could get gas? This isn't the problem now . Now the oil companies are reporting record profits, and laughing at us because there is nothing to stop them. I wish someone would explaine to me why diesl is so high besides the fact that it must be greed on the part of the oil companies and the fact that our own government has turned their backs on us. We did go on strike last week and , in our lanes of travel there is about a 9cent decrease in some places . We haul for a very good broker who pays above what the going price for hauling Produce and chicken is, but it is still hard to coover the fact that fuel went almost a dollar a gallon since December. No matter how much you plan no normal working person could have seen that coming. On top of that fuel taxes went up in just about every state, and so did Insurance all at the same time. It is almost like getting fired from a job you had to pay to work at. Diesl is a by-product of gas, it's leftovers, so why is it so much higher than gas. I guess it is like fat free food, they charge you more for less taste. Well anyway if any of you have a clue let me in please,we have always done things backward and we'er still on a roll.
