Im not one to whine and bitch and moan and carry on and throw hissy fits and pout like a little baby because I carry my pacifer everywhere I go but DAMN Im getting tired of eatting soup and .99 cent nuggets...You guessed it, Im sitting again. This has got to end soon right? Sat all day waiting to unload and get those famous words that just make your day. " NO FREIGHT "
Pulled over in Texarkana,Tx to write this little diddy! Before I came onto Chickentrucker I believe the last time I had a real true friend was back in 1992.. Im not anti social or anything ,just hard to make friends when your on the road 330+ days a year. Anyway I just wanted to say that since becoming a member I have found several good friends on here, good people that can listen and give great advice and help pick you up when you fall sometimes. I couldnt ask for better friends and so what if it took me over a decade to find them..These friends are friends for life.. Thats what chicken trucker means to me..
Picked up my load in Alta Vista,Virginia this morning and cut across hwy 43 not knowing what to expect . The road was narrow but as I approached the top of the mountain it was getting more narrow, the curves were so sharp there was no way to keep it completly in your lane...The only thing postive was that I wasnt meeting any other traffic from the other direction, till i got to the top...On a curve to the left I met another semi. Luckly the curve was to the left for my sake. I was in my lane but he wasnt..He swerved to miss me and I watched his trailer tandems take the ditch as he went by. I reached for my volume dial on my cb and could hear him yelling lord get me off the freaking ( edited) mountain. I hollered at him and asked if he was ok, he responded yes and that he just wanted to get off this road..I told him to be careful and that he had about another 7-8 miles of bad curves before he reached hwy 29..This is just another example of the job we have and people that dont drive have no clue what we face every day. You never know what the day will bring you but with skills and patience that you learn thru the years will get you thru.. I made a mental note to never take hwy 43 in Virginia again,....
