Things have settled down around here, finally. I even cleaned our bathroom. (i hate cleaning the bathroom. hence it doesn't get done as often as it should which just makes it worse the next time.)

SS has calmed down. DS3 is talking to him again. DS2 still working his butt off.

I have a virus or something. Maybe allergies? Feeling dizzy and kind of sick to my stomach.  Maybe it's from cleaning the bathroom?

Have been entertaining myself looking through seed catalogs. Tomatoes, onions, peppers, chilis, beans, etcetcetc. It's more fun perusing than it is weeding, though.

Next thing on the Gotta Get This Done agenda is those blasted taxes. Accountant thinks we will need to file an extension because an investment broker messed up e.o.y. reports. It's either an extension or file an amended return later. Dealing with all this crap makes me tired and cranky.

The taxman is already having fits about the way my parent's estates were settled, which is another thing that sits at the back of my mind and nags. Have a totally different accountant for that, though. He tells me what I need to get and, if I can find it, I just deliver it to him. During the last years of my Dad's life so much stuff vanished, paperwork, documentation, all those things that were needed to close everything up.. been 5 years and we're still trying to sort through the boxes and boxes that we found when we cleared out his house. I have no idea what happened to tax returns and all the stuff that goes with them. Makes me kind of nervous as I don't know how we will pay any back taxes due, plus penalties. Am hoping the CPA can negotiate something if things get out of hand.

Another one of those things that I just take care of because Himself doesn't need any more on his mind. He worries about me handling the Thundering Herd, as it is. For the most part, it goes pretty smoothly. Our main concern is transportation for school activities at night. I haven't been driving after dark since October. when I ripped the ligaments in my right knee. So, getting the guys 20 miles to school and 20 miles back when they're done leaves me to rely on friend's parents. I don't like doing that but don't have a lot of choice presently. I am glad to haul them around before dark, or early in the morning and will take other kids. Ah, well....

Need to price new dishwashers and microwaves. The ones we have are on their last legs, or whatever. Think I've spent about as much on repair calls for that d.w. as I would have spent on a brand new one 18 months ago. The mike is a cheapo and the paintlike lining is peeling off the inside. Sometimes when it gets turned on it blows a breaker, too. Not real crazy about that. Sure would be nice to get a convection one but they are WAY expensive. Doesn't help that the guys have been putting red-glazed ceramic stuff in there. Thanks, dudes, that red is from iron oxide. Did you know that? Evidently not. It's old enough that I can't get new filters for the vent part so it goes without filters.

Also need to get the plumber over here to look at the water softener. Stupid thing is just not working right. I thnk it's the kind of salt we put in. Will not get that "special" salt next time, just plain old solar salt with no fancy-schmancy system-saver crap in it. Gonna be a bitch pulling all that other salt out. What to do with the stuff once it's out? Dunno. Really. Maybe the plumber will know someone who could use it. (We don't use salt on our driveway, either, so that isn't an option.)

Should make up my mind what to do with the roast sitting in the fridge. Would be nice to fire up the side-smoker but not so nice tending it when it's cold and windy. I suppose I will bring it up to room temp, slather some rub on it and stick it in the stovetop smoker, then finish in a really slow oven wrapped in foil. If I start it in the next hour, it would be done in time for dinner tonight. Then some oven-roasted potatoes, green beans or something? hmmmmm Sounds like a plan.

Still in the market for a new food processor. Am longing for a Magi-mix but resisting something that expensive. Ratchet says to just get it since I use a f.p. so much but.... Have been going through one about every year. They just burn out or die. The m-m has a 12 year warranty on the motor. I suppose it would be a good idea to figure out how much 12 years worth of cheapo ones will cost. Maybe if I amortize over 12 years I would feel better about the amount of money for the really good one.

Kind of lonesome and blue today. Quess that's why I'm just rambling. Ratchet doesn't know when he will be back. As of yesterday there was another load waiting for this afternoon but I'm not sure where it is supposed to go. If southbound, he may stop by on his way through, if not... who knows? I am thankful that there are loads waiting. Remembering that makes me feel considerably better. I wouldn't, not in a million years, let him know how lonesome I get. He knows I miss him, though.

Ok, he just called and I'm on weather-watcher duty. That I can do! LOL
