This Is NOT A Bitch Session....

First of all I want to say that I am new to this site, Just found while I was looking for information a broker.  That being said, I want to take you all on a little trip.  No this is not the preamble to Gilligan's Island, although this seems like it at times.  I posted my truck in AR (where I live because I had every intention on deadheading home when I emptied in TX Thursday).

I get this call from a broker from a very well known trucking company from Utah.  They told me that I could pick up a load on Friday morning and deliver it same day.  I told them where I was and what I needed to do the load.  At first they balked, of course they did, I didn't expect them to pay what I wanted anyway.  Well unbeknownest to me, they were actually contemplating it.  I guess trucks are harder to find in Arkansas than even I thought.

They call me back and say, okay we'll pay you $XXX.00 to go and pick it up and deliver it Friday afternoon.  So I drive all the way up last night after I receive thier confirmation sheet, and everything seems to be in order.  I get to the shipper and go to bed.  Wake up the next morning and go inside and check in.  Well I should have known that this being a frozen load, it was not ready yet.  When I called the broker and told him what was going on, I was just on the brink of livid.

I planned on taking another load and having a real good week.  But as the trucking Gods would have it, this would not be the case.  I told the broker that I needed more money to sit all weekend on this frozen load, I even said I'd do it for money and a hotel room for the weekend.  Hell why not enjoy the position I had them in, I say that because I have been out here a long time, I'm no spring chicken by any stretch of the imagination.

Well as the trucking Gods have once again stepped in and helped out a trashy chicken hauler, the broker agreed to pay me what I was wanting without the hotel expense, but it all worked out to $5.00 a mile for all miles on this short run.

So for the rest of you reading this, stay loaded, and rollin'

Be good, if you can't be good ....be good at it.
