Once again the joyous Christmas Season is upon us. I, personally, with millions of others accross America, am financially suffering this year. My work hours were cut last December to between 30 to 34 hours a week. Having had lots of time off, I started and completed a complete kitchen re-model, Needless to say, spending thousands of dollars in the process.
Then on September 28th came a dreaded day...LAY OFF! Oh No, this surely is'nt happening to me....but reality struck....yes it was. Oh well, old truckers too, sometimes become victims of circumstance.
Un-employment checks are at least paying the few bills that I owe. So, I feel extremely blessed in that respect
But now its Christmas. I was always taught(and its always been in my heart and nature) to help those less fortunate. Its just a fact that I wont be able to help as much this year as I have in the past....and that bothers me. One of my favorites: "I complained because I had no shoes..till I saw a man who had no feet". So, I'm thankful for what I have and feel really blessed to have what is provided for me!
I want to encourage everyone to know, understand, and rejoice in the true meaning of Christmas.
Christmas is about a child that was given to the world years ago and will continue to be about a child and children for years to come.
And yes...I also believe that as long as there are children and parents that care about them...there will always be a Santa Clause!
Wishing all my friends and fellow Chicken Truckers a safe and joyous Christmas and may all your efforts be blessed in 2010!
Pappy
